Ah, come with me! / I'll blow you that wonderful bubble, the moon, / That floats forever and a day; / I'll sing you the jacinth song / Of the probable stars; / I will attempt the unstartled steppes of dream, / Until I find the Only Flower, / Which shall keep (I think) your little heart / While the moon comes out of the sea.

[rjeSTUDIO]: Cis straight white people are trying to shut Arkh down.

Yesterday, notice was received from Kate at Indiegogo that part of #Arkh’s pitch on indiegogo was “unlawful”. Namely, that the lines about using the money to hire queer people and PoC artists were “breaking anti-discrimination laws”….

Can I just take a second to point out how wildly offensive I find it that they phrase this as “cis straight white people” as opposed to just “bigots” or anything else they could have said? Why is it necessary to specify what demographic they are? I’m white and cisgendered, and while I know there are a lot of hateful and ignorant people whose backgrounds are similar to mine, it’s sickening to see how people have been generalizing and making it seem as though the entire cis population is just terrible and cruel and oppressive. Prejudice works both ways, guys. Don’t use “cis” like it’s a derogatory word, or you aren’t any better than the people who use “gay” as a synonym for shitty. Period.

In general I dislike the term “cisgendered’ because it’s not a label I chose for myself, and more often than not I see it used in a negative context. So I hope the world knows, for future reference, not to refer to me as such. I don’t like it any more than someone who’s gay would like being called a fag.
